Editorial Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026This document describes how Lantern Park makes editorial decisions, handles corrections, manages conflicts of interest, and maintains the independence of its journalism from commercial relationships.
Editorial independence
Editorial decisions at Lantern Park are made by the editorial team without input from sponsors, advertisers, or commercial partners. No business relationship influences which places we cover, which events we list, or what conclusions we reach in our writing. When a subject of coverage also has a commercial relationship with the publication, we disclose that relationship clearly in the article.
What we cover and why
We cover neighbourhood life: the spaces, people, events, and built environments that shape how communities feel to live in. We choose subjects based on editorial judgment — whether a place, story, or voice adds something genuine to our understanding of neighbourhood life. We do not cover subjects as a favour, as a result of press releases, or because a business has paid for placement. Paid placements are clearly labelled as such and are governed by our sponsorship disclosure policy.
Accuracy and verification
Before publishing, we verify facts with primary sources wherever possible. We speak directly to the people we write about. We do not publish information that has not been confirmed from at least one primary or reliable secondary source. Quotes are approved by the speaker before publication. Statistics are sourced and linked where possible.
Corrections
We correct errors promptly and transparently. When we correct a factual error, we add a correction note at the bottom of the affected article noting what was changed and when. We do not silently alter published content. To submit a correction, use our contact form and select “Correction or feedback.”
Conflicts of interest
Editorial team members do not accept gifts, complimentary access, or hospitality from businesses they are covering or considering covering. Where a personal relationship with a subject exists, that team member does not lead the relevant coverage. When we attend events or visit spaces as guests, we disclose this in the relevant article.
Sponsored content
All sponsored content is clearly and prominently labelled as “Sponsored” at the top of the article and in any newsletter inclusion. Sponsored content is written by the Lantern Park editorial team in our voice; partners do not write or approve final copy, though they may review for factual accuracy. A business being a sponsor does not guarantee positive coverage, and we will not publish a sponsored piece we are not comfortable standing behind editorially.
Community guidelines
We do not publish content that dehumanises individuals or groups, incites discrimination, reproduces harmful stereotypes, or attacks individuals on the basis of protected characteristics. Story subjects and sources are treated with dignity regardless of whether they are public figures.
